The session
Carry a set distance (e.g. 4 x 50 m), rest briefly, and repeat. Stay tall and keep the pace brisk on every repeat, not just the first.
In the race
The race farmers carry is 200 m, the sixth station.
Pacing
Keep every rep within a few seconds of the first. If the last one is much slower, start easier next time.
Where people go wrong
Grip fading into a shuffle, posture collapsing on later repeats, and resting so long the grip fully recovers.
Easier or harder
- Easier: lighter handles, and put them down every 50 m.
- Harder: race weight with no drops.
Staying safe
Stop a repeat early if your grip is about to fail mid-carry; a dropped bell near the ankles is the main risk.
