The session

Pull the sled a set distance (e.g. 4 x 12.5 m lanes), rest briefly, and repeat. Hold the same ambitious body angle and rope tension on every repeat.

In the race

The race sled pull is 50 m: you pull the sled towards you hand over hand with a rope, then walk back and go again. It is the third station.

Pacing

Keep every rep within a few seconds of the first. If the last one is much slower, start easier next time.

Where people go wrong

Body angle creeping upright on later repeats, jerky arm-only pulls, and pausing mid-lane.

Easier or harder

  • Easier: lighter sled, or rest after every length.
  • Harder: race weight, with no pauses between lengths.

Staying safe

Drive from the legs and keep the spine long. Lighten the sled before technique collapses.
