Han River Seoul Bike Ride
You ride the separated bike path along the Han River, passing Banpo Hangang Park below Banpo Bridge and its Moonlight Rainbow Fountain, then Nodeul Island, to finish at Yeouido Hangang Park. It is one of the 20 routes Seoul residents voted for in 2024.

- Where
- Seoul, South Korea
- Distance
- About 13 km one way
The route
Hangang south bank from Apgujeong to Yeouido via Banpo Hangang Park and Nodeul Island (Seoul's 'night-view commute' Ttareungyi route).
Start at the Apgujeong riverside entrance (Apgujeong Nadeulmok). Seoul's public bikes (Ttareungyi) have docks across the city, including by exit 2 of Sinbanpo Station near Banpo Hangang Park.
Permits and fees
No permit needed. A Seoul Bike one-day pass costs 1,000 won for 1 hour or 2,000 won for 2 hours, with 200 won or more per extra 5 minutes; non-members can buy passes in the Seoul Bike app.
Before you go
- Download the Seoul Bike (Ttareungyi) app and switch it to English before you ride.
- Dock the bike before your 1 or 2 hours run out to avoid extra charges.
- Time your ride for an evening fountain show at Banpo Bridge, and check the current schedule first.
What to bring
- Helmet
- Spare tube, tyre levers and a pump
- Water and snacks
- Front and rear lights
- A layer for descents and stops
Getting ready for it
Time in the saddle matters more than speed.
If you have not ridden for a while, do two or three rides of an hour or two first so your legs and your seat are used to it.
Staying safe
- The Hangang bike paths have a 20 km/h speed limit, and you share them with walkers.
- Wear bright clothing and use lights wherever there is traffic.
- Check your brakes and tyres before you leave.
