Corridor du Littoral Bike Ride

From the Old Port you follow the paved path east along the St. Lawrence, past the mouth of the Saint-Charles River, Domaine de Maizerets and the Baie de Beauport, to the foot of Montmorency Falls. It is a mostly flat riverside path; the full corridor runs 48 km from Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures to the falls.

The route

Old Port (Québec ferry terminal) to Parc de la Chute-Montmorency and back.

Québec City's official cycling loop starts at the Gare fluviale, the Québec-Lévis ferry terminal in the Old Port. Cyclo Services at 289 rue Saint-Paul rents classic bikes and e-bikes.

Before you go

  • Cyclo Services in the Old Port is open daily from 9:00 to 17:00.
  • The path splits into separate cycling and walking lanes in places; keep to the bike side.
  • For a longer day, the official 28 km loop heads west along Promenade Samuel-De Champlain and returns by the Québec-Lévis ferry.
  • Smoking, vaping and alcohol are banned on the city's bike paths.

What to bring

  • Helmet
  • Spare tube, tyre levers and a pump
  • Water and snacks
  • Front and rear lights
  • A layer for descents and stops

Getting ready for it

Time in the saddle matters more than speed.

If you have not ridden for a while, do two or three rides of an hour or two first so your legs and your seat are used to it.

Staying safe

  • Wear bright clothing and use lights wherever there is traffic.
  • Check your brakes and tyres before you leave.
