Stanley Park Seawall Bike Ride
You ride the seawall's cycling lane right round Stanley Park, past the totem poles and lighthouse at Brockton Point, the Girl in a Wetsuit statue, the Lions Gate Bridge, Siwash Rock, Third Beach and Second Beach. The path is paved and mostly flat, with the water beside you almost the whole way.

- Where
- Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
- Distance
- 9-10 km loop
- Time
- About 1 hour
The route
Stanley Park Seawall loop (cycling lane, counter-clockwise).
There are no bike rentals inside the park, so most people rent on Denman Street between Davie and West Georgia streets. The Stanley Park section runs from the Vancouver Rowing Club in Coal Harbour round to Second Beach.
When to go
The stretch between Third Beach and Prospect Point is exposed to rain, wind and snow and closes each late autumn for slope-stabilisation work (17 to 28 November in 2025).
Before you go
- Bikes may only go counter-clockwise around the park, so plan to ride the whole loop.
- Stay in the marked cycling lane; walkers and runners have their own lane.
- There are toilets and a shop near the totem poles, and change rooms and snack stands at Second Beach.
- Rent on Denman Street before you go, as you cannot rent a bike inside the park.
What to bring
- Helmet
- Spare tube, tyre levers and a pump
- Water and snacks
- Front and rear lights
- A layer for descents and stops
Getting ready for it
Time in the saddle matters more than speed.
If you have not ridden for a while, do two or three rides of an hour or two first so your legs and your seat are used to it.
Staying safe
- Summer weekends are busy and some stretches are narrow, so slow down and keep to your lane.
- Check for closures between Third Beach and Prospect Point, which suffers storm and rock damage.
- Wear bright clothing and use lights wherever there is traffic.
- Check your brakes and tyres before you leave.
